In the Vineyard

From the fertile soils of western Oakville, to the recognizable terroir known as the “Rutherford Dust”, to the mountain grown fruit atop rugged Howell Mountain, our remarkable vineyards are each unique, but when combined, provide a palette of site specific characteristics that are the essence of Napa Valley.

“I personally love this wine for its classic expression of true Napa Valley terroir. As a winemaker, the ability to use the incredible variety of our own vineyards to create this wine is one of the things I look forward to most each year.” – Brittany Sherwood, Winemaker

Tasting, evaluating, and final blending of individual lots to create the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon each year is a thoughtful process in crafting this classically made wine.

In the Cellar

Each vintage, cabernet sauvignon fruit is harvested from our vineyards in Oakville, Rutherford, Howell Mountain, St. Helena, Oak Knoll, and Calistoga. Each vineyard lot is kept separate and unblended during fermentation and also while aging in French oak barrels. Our winemaker continuously tastes the various lots throughout the first two years of its time in barrel. When decisions have been made to select the exceptional barrels of wine for our single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons, the remaining barrels are blended together to become our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The Napa Valley Cabernet spends another year in bottle before its release from our cellar.
